Hunger Dreams was first presented in the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts on 5 September 2002. Significant production support was provided through the Center's now-defunct Spotlight Program.
The production then moved to the Brooklyn Lyceum in New York.

These premieres were preceded by a summer of training and rehearsal in a 30,000 square-foot mill space in Fall River, Massachusetts.
